Our Governance

The Alice Smith School Foundation is managed by the Alice Smith Schools Association. Our Foundation is headed by a reputable Board, operating to the highest standards of governance, ethics and accountability under the stewardship of the Council of Governors of the school.

A Passionate Team

The Alice Smith School Foundation Board comprises of the following members:

YAM Tengku Zatashah Binti Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah 

 Chair of the Alice Smith School Foundation Board

 Y.A.M. Tengku Zatashah is a former Alice Smith student, attending the Jalan Bellamy Primary Campus from 1978 to 1983. She left to attend a boarding school in the UK at the age of 10. She is a Royal Patron to Make-A-Wish Malaysia, President Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur and is a board of trustee to many social NGOs and foundations in Malaysia. Tengku Zatashah is founder and advocate for #zerofoodwastage and #sayno2plastic. Y.A.M. Tengku Zatashah accepted an invitation to join the Foundation Board in January 2019.

Marama Schnitker

 Foundation Board Member and Chair of the Council of Governors 

Marama was elected to the Council in 2012. She served as Vice-Chair from February 2015 and was elected Chair of the Council in June 2017. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales Roll of Solicitors and worked as a corporate finance lawyer in Australia and South Africa. She has a law degree and an economics degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Her two children started at Alice Smith in 2005, the eldest graduated in 2018 and the youngest graduated in 2020.

Dato' Roslan Jaffar

 Foundation Board Member and Vice-chair of the Council of Governors

Dato' Roalan is the Deputy Group Managing Director of Ahmad Zaki Resources Berhad. Prior to this he spent 11 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), based in both Washington DC and Kuala Lumpur. Dato' Roslan holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Imperial College London and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom. With over two decades of experience in corporate and professional services roles, he brings a wealth of expertise to The Alice Smith School Foundation.

Norinne Dewal

Foundation Board member 

As a Partner at Sreesanthan & Co., Norinne specialises in corporate and commercial law, providing expert counsel to clients across various sectors. With a strong academic foundation, Norinne holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Bristol and an MA in International Business & Management from the University of Westminster. Norinne joined the Council of Governors in 2022 and the Foundation Board in 2023. An Alumna and current parent herself, Norinne brings her personal experience alongside a wealth of legal expertise and industry insights to the Foundation Board.

Grant Ferguson 

Foundation Board member 

 Grant is a seasoned British executive with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in Asia. He has held senior executive and financial management positions at several prominent organisations in Asia, including CFO of Astro and CEO of Astro International. A qualified accountant, he is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the Institute of Certified Public Accounts in Hong Kong. With over a decade of experience as an independent advisor and non-executive director, Grant has contributed his expertise to a range of public and private organisations, including Speedcast International, Inter Milan, and UT Group/Astro and served as a Governor for Alice Smith School from 2013 to 2024.
